About this PDF
The Beginner book covered the early years and the Advanced book the school years. This Professional book moves into the teenage years, roughly ages 13 to 18, when parenting changes gear again: less steering, more advising, and bigger stakes - substances, driving, social media, mental health, sexuality, consent and grief. All explanations and illustrations are in Bengali. This 23-page guide runs through eight chapters: the teenage years and what changes; talking so teens will talk; independence, rules and curfews; substances, driving and risk; sleep, body and health; social media and online life; feelings, stress and mental health; and big talks and hard times: sexuality, consent and grief. Every chapter opens with a real family moment and ends with something to do, not just read. A glossary of parenting terms, a Parenting Log page and a source list sit at the back. The book draws on published public-health guidance from the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (HealthyChildren.org), named with links on the Sources page. These sources are American; where local services, helplines or rules differ, follow your own. The book also spells out when a teenager's safety needs immediate help. Best suited to parents and caregivers who have read the Beginner and Advanced books and whose children are in or near the teenage years. Important: this is general education, not medical, psychological or therapy advice for an individual teenager. It awards no qualification and is no substitute for your child's doctor or a qualified specialist. If a teenager is unsafe, or talks about suicide or harming themselves or others, seek help immediately through local emergency and crisis services.
